Xavier takes lead in French Elite series

Twice beating fellow countrymen Gregory Aranda during the third round of the French Elite Championship in Pernes, Xavier Boog had another good day and is now leading the French series.

Team KRT enjoyed another good performance in Spain where Jonathan Barragan claimed his third consecutive double win in his national series, so the team is now leading both championships.

The weather was pretty bad in South of France in late March, and the rain wasn't welcomed by the organizers and the riders as the ground in Pernes is very chalky.

It was slippery going during the first heat, and then wetter for the second one as the rain never stopped. The track was pretty dangerous and none of the top riders wanting to take any risk two weeks prior the first GP.

Xavier made the best move as he got two great starts, and lead each race before the end of the opening lap.Posting a couple of fast laps in the first part of each period he secured a six second advantage.

Winner of the first race, he was riding to another victory in the second heat when a back marker forced him to change his line.

Xavier was surprised and stalled his engine, losing enough time to offer the win to Paulin.

Second overall followed by Aranda, Xavier is now leading the series by eleven points before the fourth round scheduled at Gueugnon.

Jonathan Barragan was in Tenerife for the third round of the Spanish Elite series, and it was another opportunity for him to grab a double victory on his home soil.

With six heat wins in a row, Jonathan - who also posted strong results during his appearance in the French series in Sommières - is now ready for the opening GP, an event that Sébastien Pourcel will not attend in the best of fitness.

Fourth in the first heat of the British Championship in Canada Heights, Sébastien crashed in race two and retired.

Xavier Boog: "This morning the track was nearly perfect, but the rain came and it was not so good for us and the club. I got twice a good start and I came promptly to the lead, but in the second race I did a small mistake and missed another win. I lost a couple of days in my preparation after Valence but now it's perfect, I've no more arm pumped and feel confident."

Roger Pourcel: "We are happy with the results of Xavier, he is very consistent and I'm sure that he's ready to win some GP heats."

Yves Demaria: "It was another good weekend for us in Pernes, even if it would have been better to win both races. This week Xavier asked us to work on the start and we did it, today he showed with two starts in the top three that we did a good job. We are now impatient to be in Bulgaria for the first GP."
